Aminophylline may be used to relieve wheezing, shortness of breath and
troubled breathing.
Use exactly as ordered by your physician. It must be taken on a regular
schedule to be most effective.
May be taken with food or milk if stomach upset occurs.
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember it then take the rest of
the day's doses at evenly spaced intervals. Do not double a dose or take
(or give to a child) more than prescribed.
Upset stomach, nervousness or restlessness may occur initially and often
disappear with continued use. Contact your physician or pharmacist if these
persist or if you experience a rapid heart rate, persistent headache,
confusion, vomiting or other unusual symptoms. Avoidance of caffeine
containing beverages (coffee, tea, colas) will minimize nervousness.
Children are very sensitive to this medication. Do not give more than the
prescribed dose and watch for signs of overdose such as vomiting, fever,
irritability and excessive urination.
Keep an adequate amount on hand; contact your pharmacist before your
prescription runs out.
Do not allow anyone else to take this medication.
Store this medication in its original labelled container at room
temperature, out of the reach of children.
