This medication is a topical antibiotic used to treat certain skin
infections.
For external use only. Do not get in the eyes. If you get some in your
eyes, flush them with water.
If this medication was prescribed by your physician, apply it exactly as
prescribed. Complete the full duration of therapy even if your infection
seems to have cleared.
If your condition seems to be getting worse or if there is no improvement
after a week of treatment, discuss this with your physician.
If you are using this medication without a prescription, apply it as
directed on the package. Ask the pharmacist if there are no instructions on
the package. If your infection has not improved within 5 days, or if it is
getting worse, contact your physician. Do not use this medication longer
than two weeks without seeing a physician.
To apply: Wash the affected area with soap and water, dry it thoroughly,
then gently rub in a small amount. Wash your hands after applying the
medication.
Your physician may recommend covering the medicated area with an airtight
dressing using food wrap or bandage. Follow the instructions carefully. Do
not cover this medication with a dressing, bandage or other covering unless
advised to do so by your physician.
Missed dose: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is
almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your
regular schedule.
Breast feeding: This medication should not be applied to the breasts just
before breast-feeding unless your physician has specifically told you to do
so, as some of it may enter the milk.
Your physician may wish to perform periodic examinations while you are
using this medication especially if you are using it regularly for more
than a week.
Keep this medication in a labelled container away from heat and direct
light; follow package instructions. Protect from freezing. Keep this and
all medication out of the reach of children.
Safely discard all medication after its expiry date. Do not use this
medication for future problems without consulting your physician.
