This medication is related to cortisone and belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids. These agents have anti- inflammatory effects and are used to provide relief from inflammation, itching or other discomfort caused by allergies or other skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.

Allergies: Tell your physician if you are allergic to any medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives. If you develop increased redness, itching, blistering or swelling in the treated area, notify your physician. You may have developed an allergy to this product.

Medical conditions: Tell your physician if you have skin infections or tuberculosis or if you have a skin condition that causes easy bruising or thinning of the skin. Also tell your physician if you have diabetes, glaucoma or cataracts. These may be worsened by this medication.

Use in children: Regular examinations by the physician are recommended
because this medication can be absorbed through the skin and can cause
hormonal side effects including a decrease in growth in children.

Use in the elderly: The elderly may be more likely to experience problems
due to the thinning of the skin caused by this medication. The skin may be
injured more easily and blood blisters may form. Use with caution.

Use this medication exactly as prescribed by your physician. Do not use it
more often or for a longer period of time than advised as this may cause an
increased risk of side effects. Using too much on thin skinned areas such
as the face, groin or armpits can produce thinning of the skin and stretch
marks. This is especially important if it is prescribed for a child or an
adolescent.

Missed dose: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is
almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your
regular schedule.

Apply as directed by your physician; usually only a small amount is applied
to the affected area and rubbed in gently. This medication is for external
use only. Avoid contact with the eyes; if you get some in your eyes, flush
with water. Wash your hands after applying this medication.

Dressings: Your physician may recommend covering the medicated area with an airtight dressing using food wrap or a bandage. Follow the instructions carefully. Do not cover this medication with a dressing, bandage or other
covering unless advised to do so by your physician. If the medication is being applied to the diaper area in infants or children, do not use tight diapers or plastic pants because this can increase skin absorption.

Infection: This medication can hide the symptoms of infection and can also
allow infection to worsen. If your condition seems to be getting worse or if there is no improvement after a week of treatment, discuss this with your physician.

Side effects: There may be a slight temporary stinging when applying the
preparation. Dryness, burning or irritation may develop. After prolonged
use, thinning of the skin and stretch marks may occur. Prolonged frequent
use on large areas especially under dressings can lead to hormonal side
effects due to absorption of the medication. In children, growth may be affected. Rare side effects include: formation of blood blisters, easy bruising, acne, lightening of skin colour, skin pain, and numbness in fingers. Consult with your physician if you develop these or any other problems while using this medication.

Use in pregnancy: When used properly these medications have not been shown
to cause problems in humans.

Use in breast-feeding: This medication should not be applied to the breasts
just before breast-feeding as some of it may enter the milk. Otherwise no
problems are expected.

Check-ups: Your physician may wish to perform periodic examinations while
you are using this medication especially if you are using it regularly for more than a week.

Storage: Store this medication away from heat and direct light. Follow package instructions; some products require refrigeration. Protect from freezing. Keep this and all medication out of the reach of children.

Safely discard medication after its expiry date. Do not use this medication for future problems without consulting your physician.

Keep this medication in a labelled container, out of the reach of children. Do not allow anyone else to use this medication.
