Indapamide is used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention caused
by a number of conditions. It increases the efficiency of the kidneys in
eliminating extra water and salt from the body. An increase in the volume
of urine produced and frequency of voiding will occur initially; these
effects will lessen after a short period of time.
Take the medication exactly as prescribed by your physician; it must be
taken regularly to be fully effective even if you feel perfectly well.
Always keep an adequate supply on hand.
Once daily dosages should usually be taken in the morning. If you are to
take two doses per day, it is best to take one in the morning and, at least
initially, the second in the early afternoon to avoid having to get up
during the night to use the bathroom.
If you forget a dose, omit it and take only the regular dose at the next
scheduled time.
Check with your physician if you become ill with vomiting or diarrhea or if
you notice any unusual side effects such as irregular heartbeat, fatigue,
skin rash, muscle pain, or increased thirst.
It is important that you keep in touch with your physician while taking
this medication so that he/she may carefully follow how well it is working
and how your body responds to it.
Store this medication in its original labelled container at room
temperature, out of the reach of children.
