Methotrexate is used to treat a variety of conditions including severe
psoriasis, arthritis and certain types of cancer.
Take the medication exactly as prescribed by your physician. Treatment
schedules may vary, so be certain that you understand how many times per
day and how many days per week you are to take the medication. Your
physician should specify how long you are to continue the medication.
If gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mouth or
abdominal pain) are severe, or if you notice a change in stool colour,
consult your physician.
Notify your physician at once if you experience fever, chills, cough or
sore throat.
As alcohol consumption may worsen certain side effects from this
medication, it should be avoided.
Contraceptive measures must be used during and for at least 8 weeks
following therapy.
Do not take any other medication, even aspirin, without first consulting
your physician or pharmacist.
Increased skin sensitivity to sunlight may occur. Avoid excessive exposure
and use a suitable sunscreen if outdoor activities are planned.
Keep in close touch with your physician while taking this medication.
Store this medication in its original labelled container at room
temperature, out of the reach of children.
