Methyldopa will help you maintain a normal blood pressure.
It is very important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your
physician even though you may not feel sick. It must be taken regularly to
be fully effective. Contact your pharmacist before you run out of
medication to ensure you always have an adequate amount on hand.
Take your medication at the same time(s) each day. Dosage times should be
associated with other regular activities (such as meals or teeth brushing)
to assist you in remembering to take it.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if
it is time for your next dose, only take that one. Do not take a double
dose to make up for the missed one.
This medication may initially cause drowsiness which disappears after a few
days. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know whether you
experience this side effect.
If this medication causes dizziness, do not change positions rapidly. When
getting out of bed in the morning, sit on the bed for a few minutes before
standing up.
If you experience a dry mouth, sucking on a hard candy, ice chips or
chewing gum will help.
Contact your physician if you develop dizziness, muscle or joint aches, or
persistent fever.
Stay in close contact with your physician so that he/she may follow how
well this medication works for you.
Store this medication in its original labelled container at room
temperature, out of the reach of children.
