Metronidazole vaginal products are used to treat infections of the genital
tract.
Use the medication exactly as prescribed. It is important to use all of the medication. Do not stop using it until the prescription is all gone, even if you are feeling better.
Side effects are infrequent and usually mild. If any persistent or particularly annoying effects occur, contact your physician or pharmacist.
Avoid alcoholic beverages while on this medication and for 48 hours after discontinuing it as an unpleasant reaction with alcohol can occur (nausea, flushing, severe headache). This can occur with vaginal metronidazole use.
When you are taking this medication for a genital infection, do not wear tight underwear or those made of silk, nylon, dacron, or other synthetic fabrics.
Keep this medication in a labelled container, out of the reach of children. Do not allow anyone else to use this medication.
