Mineral oil is used as a laxative; it is used to soften the stool and
increase ease of passage.
Usually, the bowel movement will occur within 6 to 8 hours after you take
the drug orally.
It should not be used frequently for constipation, or for longer than one
week unless directed by your physician.
Never take this medication within one hour of lying down or going to bed.
Take it on an empty stomach.
Drink plenty of fluids while taking this product to prevent dehydration and
to enhance the effect.
Do not take this medication if you have unexplained abdominal pain, with or
without vomiting and nausea.
Contact your physician if you have a sudden change in your bowel habits
that last longer than 2 weeks or if you have rectal bleeding.
Some leakage of an oily substance from the rectum can occur and may stain
clothing. If leakage is noted, check with your physician.
If you are using this product regularly on your physician's advice and if
you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost
time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your
regular schedule. Do not take two doses to make up for the missed one.
Chilling the mineral oil improves flavour.
Store this medication in a tightly closed and labelled container. Keep this
and all medication out of the reach of children.
