Norfloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat infections.
It is preferable to take this medication on an empty stomach, one hour
before or two hours after eating; however, if stomach upset occurs, take
this medication with a meal or a light snack.
Do not take antacids, zinc or iron within two hours before or after taking
this medication.
Maintain adequate fluid intake while you are taking this medication.
Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your physician. It is
important to take all of this medication, even if you start to feel better
before it is finished.
This medication when taken orally may increase the effect of caffeine. You
may wish to decrease intake of caffeine-containing foods and medications,
i.e. coffee, cola drinks, tea, etc.
Side effects are infrequent and usually mild. Some people experience
stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, or lightheadedness. If these or other
symptoms are particularly troublesome, contact your physician. If you
develop pain or tenderness in your ankles, hands or shoulders, or pain
while walking, notify your physician and refrain from exercise. If a rash
develops, call your physician.
This medication can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight. Avoid too
much sun and use a sunscreen and protective clothing.
Store this medication in its original labelled container at room
temperature, out of the reach of children.
