Tamoxifen is used to treat or prevent breast cancer.
Take the medication precisely as prescribed by your physician. Do not stop
taking this medication unless you first obtain the approval of your
physician.
Some patients complain of a distaste for food. This is an unpleasant but
harmless side effect of the drug. Such effects usually subside with time.
Some patients experience hot flushes when beginning this medication. If
they persist, or are particularly unpleasant, contact your physician.
Report any sore throat, rashes, fever, abnormal vaginal bleeding or easy
bruising to your physician.
Avoid use in pregnancy and breast-feeding. Use a barrier or nonhormonal
contraception method during therapy and for two months afterward.
Keep the medication in a labelled tightly closed container, in a cool
place, protected from light and well out of the reach of children.
