Terconazole is used to treat common yeast-like fungal infections.
For this medication to be effective, it must be taken exactly as
prescribed. Complete the full course of therapy, even if your symptoms have
already improved.
If local irritation worsens, or if you feel flu-like symptoms (fever,
headache, chills) soon after administration, stop taking this product and
notify your physician.
For the vaginal tablets or cream:
(a) to use the medication: at bedtime, remove the wrapper from a
tablet and place the tablet into the applicator, or fill the
applicator with cream; insert the applicator deeply into the vagina
as far as it will comfortably go without using force; depress the
plunger slowly and remove the applicator from the vagina; clean
the applicator with soap and water after use.
(b) during menstruation, continue treatment, but use sanitary napkins
instead of tampons.
(c) do not douche while using this product unless your physician
advises it. Sanitary napkins or a minipad can be used to protect
clothing.
(d) it is not necessary to abstain from sexual intercourse or to use a
condom unless your physician advises it to prevent reinfection, or
if genital irritation occurs in the sexual partner. However, if
you are using the tablet formulation, it may render condoms and
contraceptive diaphragms ineffective; there is a cream form of
the drug that can be used with condoms and diaphragms.
(e) if symptoms of infection recur within two months, notify
your physician.
Keep this and all medication out of the reach of children.
